Why did you choose “Organic Alkalized Cocoa Powder?”

At first, I wanted to use Raw Cacao. Except, we encountered one problem…

We believe in using the cleanest ingredients wherever possible. This means our products are subject to extensive testing, including heavy metals testing, and more.

Now here’s the problem:

Every single source of Raw Cacao that we tested did not live up to the Truvani ingredient standard. Many failed the lead test, specifically.

But when we tested our source of Alkalized Cocoa Powder, it passed the lead test.

So, I had a decision to make… Risk potentially unsafe levels of lead OR alkalize our Cocoa powder.

The decision was simple.

I’ve always said that not all processing is bad, and in this case, it was true: It’s almost as if Alkalizing the Cocoa powder purified it.

The alkalization process is also known as “Dutch Processing.” This is when you use baking soda to strip the fat from Cacao beans.

Even though alkalizing takes away some nutrients, I believe it was worth the sacrifice to create a product that wasn’t tainted by potentially unsafe levels of lead.

Where is your matcha sourced from?

The organic culinary-grade matcha used in our Matcha Protein Powder is farmed from Kagoshima, Japan, home to the active Sakurajima volcano (one of the best regions for growing matcha).

What can I expect switching to “natural” or “organic” deodorant?

If you have formerly used conventional antiperspirants containing aluminum or artificial/synthetic ingredients, your body will likely experience a brief adjustment period to natural deodorant. As your body goes through the detoxification process during the switch, you may experience increased wetness or different odor before it adjusts.

Sweat is a natural detoxification process of the body that we aim to manage with organic deodorant, not stop completely.
How does Truvani organic deodorant work?

Truvani’s deodorant uses organic Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, a combination of coconut oil and glycerin, which creates a barrier on the skin’s surface to help with dryness. Our drying agents which are also used for odor absorption are organic tapioca starch and organic arrowroot powder. To keep you smelling nice throughout the day, we also use sodium bicarbonate, which is better known as baking soda.

Functionally, our deodorant uses organic beeswax to keep all of the ingredients together, as well as organic shea butter and coconut oil for a comfortable, smooth glide. To maintain freshness, we included organic rosemary extract and organic sunflower seed oil as a carrier oil to disperse the rosemary extract throughout the entire deodorant (without this, the rosemary would stay in one clump in the deodorant).
How should I apply Truvani deodorant?

You can apply Truvani’s round tip deodorant just as you would any other. For best effectiveness, apply to dry skin and cover the entire surface of your underarms.
Are there fragrances in Truvani deodorant?

Truvani’s deodorant contains no added or unnecessary artificial fragrances. We use organic rosemary extract and organic sunflower seed oil to maintain the freshness of this product.
Is your deodorant cruelty free?

Yes, all Truvani personal care products are cruelty free.
